RECAP: ART BASEL MIAMI 2010

I write this post a day after arriving in LA from MIAMI with the FLU or perhaps the ART BASEL SARS. I haven’t had the flu in a long time and boy does it suck, especially when you have mad deadlines and you can barely move and your brain is all fuzzy so please bare with me. I’m mad allergic to cigarette smoke and in the MIA you can still smoke indoors. Cig smoke + doing it big + lack of sleep = some fucked-upness. I had a fantastic time so okay its worth it. One for the books!

Our crew for this trip was deep. We met up in MIAMI from LA, SF, NC, CT and beyond which included Angrywoebots, Palmetto, ROLF!, Jack Marumatsu, Luke “dj ching chang” Chueh, Erin “myrib/peepers” Callahan, Jim “sir james/psycho sexual” Mahfood, JRYU aka “Purdy”, Sket One, Alexis and myself.  Since Shane Jessup was already out in there for Sanrio our DM2010 crew was almost in full effect except for kaNo he had to hold down the fort in Cali.  For many in the crew it was the first timers to ART BASEL MIAMI.

There are too many crazy adventures to break down since we did it big but we do have a few fotos and a bit of video as evidence.  Every night we’d think is this really happening? Seriously kids it was like shit that only happens in movies.  Our trip was filled with good peeps, amazing art, crazy adventures, dance battles, taxi cab hot boxing, art openings at strip clubs, walking mad blocks, stuffing 7 people (6 dudes and 1 female) into a small rental car, tear inducing laughs, perhaps some slaps, punches and nose breaking but good clean fun none the less.

Every day I’m reminded of how blessed I am to have such solid friends. Grassy Ass to the crew for traveling well together and for all the good timers and to mi osito for using his points to pay for my airfare. Until next timers MIAMI but sans the flu.
